PRESS RELEASE - SEPTEMBER 9 2011

Sea Cider Sails into Seattle Market

Sea Cider Farm & Ciderhouse is pleased to announce that it has begun exporting its award winning organic ciders to Washington State.  Sea Cider has successfully negotiated a distribution deal with Orcas Distributing based in Kirkland, WA. Orcas specializes in distributing quality craft beers and other specialty liquor products.

Sea Cider initiated its search for American distribution shortly after a very successful appearance at the NW Cider Summit held last September in Seattle. Sea Cider has recently been invited to present its ciders with the most popular international ciders at this year's event on September 10, again in Seattle.

Sea Cider, founded by Bruce and Kristen Jordan in 2004, started commercial organic cider production in 2007. It now produces 9 different ciders which are available in specialty liquor stores all over Vancouver Island and the Greater Vancouver area. Sea Cider is also sold in the Yukon, Alberta and Manitoba.

"Entering the US market is significant for us as craft cidermakers", says co-owner Kristen Jordan. "It is obviously a huge opportunity. We believe that craft cider is gaining popularity in the US, particularly in the Pacific Northwest. It's also significant because we know that the era of Prohibition in the US effectively killed cider production in North America at a time when it was one of the most popular beverages. Cider never recovered."

"Pippins", a popular semi-dry organic cider, will be the first of Sea Cider's products to be sold in Washington. Pippins will initially appear on the shelves at several specialty liquor stores in Seattle, including 99 Bottles, Full Throttle Bottles and Whole Foods (Roosevelt).

Up to 8 other ciders are available for tasting and purchase  daily at the Ciderhouse in Central Saanich on Vancouver Island. Later this month Sea Cider will be celebrating the harvest season with cider, food and music at its annual Apple Day open house on Sunday, September 25th 2011.
