May Day at Sea Cider!

Date:
May 5 2013 - 11:00am - 4:00pm
Spring has arrived at the orchard! And Sea Cider wants to invite everyone to their annual May Day celebration! The event is free and open to the public.

The May Day Celebration is also a release party for Perry. Made in small batches, Perry is available for a short time each spring and this year will be bottled in time for May Day.

Family-friendly activities begin at 11:00 am including cupcake decorating and a scavenger hunt. A craft station will be set up for children to make a May Day Flower basket, continuing the May Day ...tradition of secretly place a basket of spring flowers on neighbour's front steps or doorknob.

Quicksbottom Morris and Island Thyme Morris will perform Morris and Maypole dances at noon, 1:00 pm, 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm. The Sweet Lowdown Duo with Special Guest Chris Herbst will also perform their unique roots music blend throughout the day.

Guided tours of the cidery and orchard run every hour on the half hour beginning at 11:30 am.

Guests will be welcomed with a complimentary glass of sparkling cider or non-alcoholic sparkling apple juice. Truffles Catering and Food For Thought Catering will serve spring-themed food items made to pair with our ciders. Cider cocktails featuring Silk Road tea will also be served. Tickets for food items and additional cider samples can be purchased for $2 each.

The Capital Regional Beekeeper’s Association will share information about bee keeping and host a honey tasting with honey provided by Van Isle Apiaries. The tasting will showcase the range of honey flavour profiles that are a product of where the bees are located and what kinds of flowers they are visiting.
