Artisan Vinegar

The Cowichan Valley is home to two artisan vinegar makers:

The patriarch of Venturi-Schulze Vineyards started making ancient method balsamic vinegar in Canada in 1970. They established their vineyard on Vancouver Island in 1987 and the family has been producing renowned 100% estate grown wine and ancient method vinegar since 1990, the balsamic vinegar aged in cherry, chestnut, acacia, ash and oak barrels.
 

Damali Lavender Farm and Bed & Breakfast began growing lavender in 2005, planted its first grapevines in 2006 and opened a B&B in its French-inspired farmhouse built in 2007. It now produces artisan wine vinegars along with its lavendar products and wines and is a wonderful addition to the diversity of the Wine Islands..
