Blue Grouse Vineyards

Blue Grouse Estate Winery was established in 1989 as one of the pioneering family-operated vineyards on Vancouver Island. It is situated on a 31-acre farm in the heart of the Cowichan Valley. Hans and Evangeline Kiltz are the proprietors operating the estate with their winemaker son Richard. The southern slopes of the vineyard provide ideal growing conditions for producing premium Germanic-style wines. The harvest is done by hand and only the highest quality grapes are selected to create character wines such as Ortega, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir and Black Muscat, a Blue Grouse exclusive. All wines are grown, produced and bottled at Blue Grouse Vineyards. Since 1993 their charming European-style wine shop has been welcoming visitors to share a taste of genuine Vancouver Island wine. In summer time, feel free to bring a picnic and enjoy the view from under the South-facing arbour. Blue Grouse’s award-winning wines are available directly at the onsite wine shop and are served in fine dining restaurants throughout Vancouver Island. Their products are not distributed through Government Liquor Stores. For retail outlets near you, please contact the winery. Blue Grouse is located 45 km north of Victoria or 7 km south of Duncan, just 1 km west of the Highway.
